Assistant Professor, ‘Cello, nine month, tenure eligible appointment. The successful candidate must possess outstanding professional credentials as a cellist and as an exceptional teacher and recruiter of undergraduate and graduate cello students; candidates with additional experience teaching double bass are highly encouraged to apply. In addition to studio teaching, the candidate will teach Music Education string techniques and music appreciation/music history. Other responsibilities may be assigned as departmental need and load dictate. The successful candidate will support the department’s music education focus by building relationships with local, state, and regional significant string programs to promote successful recruiting and retention of string majors. He/she will be expected to maintain an active performance schedule. He/she will take a strong role in recruiting and retaining undergraduate and graduate music majors and non-music majors to support an established orchestral program of excellence. He/she must possess the ability to work collegially with faculty colleagues, area orchestra directors, and alumni. The candidate must have a dedication to public outreach through solo and chamber string music with attention to the Missouri State University’s Public Affairs Mission of cultural competence, community engagement, and ethical leadership. The candidate is expected to engage in active research and creative activities while maintaining meaningful service at the department, college, and university levels.
